Nut Butter Spreads :
Nut butters are made by grinding and processing nuts to make them into a smooth paste or spreads. Nut butter spreads are heart-healthy and are pretty good sources of protein. Variety of nut butters like those from peanut, almond, cashew and pistachio are available in the market. Usually low in saturated fat, these butters also contain good amount of dietary fiber. However, nut butter spreads usually are a calorie-dense food and thus need to be used in moderation.
If you have high cholesterol, dairy products and butter are best to be avoided. Choosing a dairy-free zero cholesterol healthy spreads will be a better option for them. Make sure that the sugar content is less than 5g, if you are fitness conscious or gym goer. Also opt for a reduced salt variety.
